Røst - the outermost island in Lofoten - have become known as a hot spot for rare birds during fall migration. But a visit to the islands in summer can also be rewarding for birdwatchers!

From late May to the middle of July Ross's gull, Sabine's gull, Pectoral sandpiper, Pacific golden plower, Citrine wagtail and Hudsonian Godwit have been found on the island. The later was a first for Norway, found by local birder Steve Baines.
The record of Citrine wagtail is also particularely interesting, since this was a male breeding with a female Yellow wagtail. This was the third breeding record for Norway - also the first record from Røst in 1997 was a Citrine male interbreeding with female Yellow wagtail!
