There are plenty of puffins in the Vestfjord, while the breeding grounds at Røst are left and empty.
The last weeks there have been several reports on puffins from the inner parts of the Vestfjord. The birds have found their way into narrow and shallow fjords, wich is quite unusual at this time of the year.
At the same time researcher Tycho Anker Nilsen can tell about an almost total lack of puffins in the breeding colonies at Røst. He tells that breeding success for the puffins this season will be zero.
