Rose-coloured starling

Johan Helge Gjendahl spotted an unusual guest on his farm on Gimsøya a couple of weeks ago; a rose-coloured starling had joined up with the regular house sparrows and starlings. The birds had found their way in to the cows and calfs, and held house both inside and around the cowshed.
The rose-coloured starling has its closest breeding areas in the south-east of Europe, and is a rare guest Norway. This is the first record for eastern Lofoten.
The pink and black plumage is characteristic for the rose-coloured starling, and also tells us that this is an adult bird.
